The Art. nr. series is about jigsaw puzzles and the way they slice up
notions of perception, completeness and authenticity.
Each collage was made from two vintage jigsaw puzzles found in
thrift shops. From the 1970s onwards, the Bornse Cartonnage Fabriek
produced large numbers of landscape puzzles under the brand name
Wild Horse. The dies with which an image was neatly cut into a
thousand pieces were often re-used, allowing for the possibility
of interlacing picturesque mountain lakes with rustic harbour
views. In the resulting duos (named after the product codes of
the puzzles) two landscapes compete for the viewers attention.
